Dr. Brian Schwender is an American Board Certified physician in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology & Hepatology. He has been practicing medicine since 2003 in the United States before moving his family to Singapore in 2014. In Singapore, he was working and teaching in both Gastroenterology and Hepatology, at Singapore General Hospital.

By joining Tucker Medical, Dr. Schwender’s motivation is to combine the highest quality individualized patient care with a holistic approach to health. Having now worked both in the United States and Asia, Dr. Schwender has a deeper knowledge of the local, regional, and global medical conditions affecting patients and the experience to help prevent, and not just treat, disease.

Dr. Schwender is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. As a member of the Singhealth Internal Medicine Core Faculty, he received numerous accolades, including the Singhealth Internal Medicine Residency Outstanding Clinician Award. Recently, Dr. Brian Schwender was awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of The American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy (FASGE) in 2017.

With experience beyond general gastroenterology, Dr. Schwender has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), as well as irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease and esophageal reflux disease. He is an expert in numerous endoscopic techniques including diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, as well as extensive experience with wireless capsule endoscopy, push enteroscopy and chromoendoscopy for Ulcerative Colitis and cancer surveillance.

In his personal time, Dr. Brian Schwender enjoys spending time with his wife, Carmen, and their two young children, Connor and Emma. He’s an outdoor enthusiast enjoying mountaineering, hiking, skiing and golf.
